|Meet an MCA Member: Beth McVey, DC, CACCP|
By Katie Wilkerson, MCA Assistant Executive Director
Where did you go to school?
Northwestern Health Sciences University.
What do you enjoy most about Chiropractic?
Changing people’s lives. I love treating families and kids and seeing the difference a chiropractic adjustment makes in their everyday life. I love teaching people that there are other ways to take care of themselves that are not invasive and really much more simplistic.
Why are you a member of the MCA?
When I was an intern, the Doctors I worked under were all very involved in the MCA. I saw the importance of it to further our profession for the good of our state, communities, and patients. The mentors and knowledge I have gained through being a member of the MCA have been priceless for me and our business. I love being a part of the association and the comradery between all the Doctors who are involved in the MCA. We owe it to ourselves, future chiropractors, and patients to ensure we are at the forefront of healthcare and the MCA helps us to do that.
What do you do in your free time?
In the very little free-time I have (we have a toddler and another baby on the way), I love to go fishing with my husband, golf, travel to see my family and girlfriends, and curl up with a good book.
What is your favorite food?
Bacon, chocolate, and gluten-free donuts from Sift bakery.
What is the best vacation you have been on?
That’s a tough one. I was fortunate to travel a lot before I went college and live in many different places. But I would have to say my honeymoon in the Cayman Islands was the best trip I have been on. That’s right up there with our family trips to Maine to the beach in the summer with family.
What is your favorite city and why?
Boston. I spent some time on the East Coast before I went to school and Boston was my favorite city by far. The cobblestone streets, breweries, the harbor, and Fenway Park can’t be beat!
What is your favorite season and why?
Fall. I don’t think any other time of the year is more beautiful and I love Oktoberfest beer! Getting out the hooded sweatshirts and jeans after a hot summer is one of my favorite things to do.
Do you have any pets? What are their names?
We have not gotten another dog after we had to put ours down a year and a half ago. Killian was the best mutt ever and we just haven’t found a dog as great to fill her spot yet.
One thing that most people don’t know about you?
You will never see me wearing all-black socks. All my socks have polka dots, stripes or some funky design on them — all-black socks give me the heebie-jeebies for some reason.
